  • Twitter SEO Experiment

Larry Lim, an SEO Consultant in Singapore, wrote an interesting blog post today about Twitter and SEO. It's a very interesting take and how we can make use of this popular microblogging service for business.

Basically, he wrote that since Twitter links are "nofollow", you won't get any benefit by linking to your corporate website. However, since Twitter profile pages are placed in folders, the Pagerank from Twitter will be passed down and your page will rise in rankings, possibly even outranking your corporate website.

To prove the point, he has setup two experimental pages on Twitter - Questnet Blog and Vijay Eswaran. He'll update the results of this SEO experiment in 3 months time.

  • How To Download Youtube Videos

I watched the latest Transformers video on Youtube last night and as expected (I'm a huge Transformers fan), it was awesome. It's the first time I actually wanted to download anything from Youtube but I realized that there's no download button.

So I did some research and found that there were many websites that could help you download videos off Youtube. I tried a couple - some didn't work, some were slow as hell while some had irritating pop-up ads. The one that I ended up using was the Youtube Downloader at Downloader9.com.

Using it was simple. Just enter the video URL into the form, hit the download button and the page will reload with a download link. Then you simply click on the link to download the video - easy!

  • In The Sphere Of Silence

Wow! I can't imagine that it's been so long since I last blogged. I'd been pretty busy reading this book called "In The Sphere Of Silence". The book basically reminds you of the other things in life instead of just money. It also encourages you to follow this ancient Indian practice of silence so that you can find peace with yourself.

What's even more interesting is that this book was written by Vijay Eswaran, an immensely successful entrepreneur who built an empire using network marketing and e-commerce.

The books so hot selling that it's been translated to several languages. It's even available on Amazon.com! Go check it out from Eswaran Books - I recommend getting one yourself.

  • iProperty.com.sg - Singapore Property Website

Looking for property in Singapore? Do drop by iproperty.com.sg! So far, I find it the best place to scout for real estate. Why? Simply because it connects sellers and buyers from all around Singapore, with an easy-to-use website. Iproperty.com.sg is so user-friendly, anyone would get the hang of it in no time.

The main feature of the site is the Search box, where you simply click on options for the property you are looking for. This includes Sale/Rent, Property Type, District, and Price Range. From there, your search will be narrowed down to several properties. For more details, just click on the properties you’re interested in.

All property pages use a similar layout, which makes it easy to understand. There is information on the number of rooms, tenure, built up, and even a few pictures of the condo! You will also see the exact location of the property using Google Maps, which is very accurate and reliable. This site also makes it easy for you to contact the seller, whose name, photo, and contact number appears on the right.

  • Phonics Class For Kids

My sister just enrolled her son in a phonics class in Singapore, called Jan & Elly. The school's located at Upper Bukit Timah and most of the teachers are expats.

Prior to this, I wasn't familiar with phonics but I've come to learn that it's a method of teaching to speak English using the sound of letters. The aim is to be able to speak more accurately, pronouncing the Ts and the Es.

Here is where Jan & Elly come in useful with their Phonics For Kids program, where kids are taught reading, comprehension, spelling as well as creative writing.

    Go check out their website.

  • Skin Care Website

My sister Jasmine was researching on IPL Hair Removal when she came across Dermatologist Singapore. Basically, it's a local skin care information website with information on common skin problems like sweaty palms, pigmentation, eczema and cellulite.

You can also get an explanation of locally available skin treatments including the general procedures like botox injections, fraxel laser, sclerotherapy, skin rejuvenation, Thermage, IPL and laser surgery.

The skin specialist directory has a comprehensive listing of Singapore skin clinics and skin centres. The site also syndicates beauty tips and advice on their Skin Care Blog.

  • SEO & Internet Marketing Services

With more people spending more time on the Internet, it's a no-brainer that you should market your products online if you're running a business. One of the most powerful marketing methods is called Search Engine Marketing, i.e. marketing on search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN using SEO or PPC.

Pay-per-Click (PPC) programs like Google Adwords provides better ROI because your ads are displayed to only people searching for related products and you only pay when someone clicks on your ad.

The "free" version of PPC is called Search Engine Optimization (SEO), i.e. optimizing your website for search engines. Although there are limitations and results can take a while, SEO can deliver unlimited sales leads for free if done well.

Hence, if you're looking for an SEO Consultant in Singapore, look for Larry Lim.

He's a freelance SEO consultant who started from scratch marketing his own websites and currently count big names like SPH and M1 among his clients.

Apart from SEO, Larry also provides Google Adwords and Internet Marketing Coaching.

  • Singapore's Version Of eBay

I didn't know we had our own eBay in Singapore until yesterday. It's called ST701 and is owned by the biggest local media company, Singapore Press Holdings. Infact, I think it's more advanced than eBay because it allows things like video uploads and even discussions like Yahoo's Q&A.

There are also lots of relevant information like car articles, buying tips, HDB guidelines and home loan interest rates.

Basically, there are four distinct areas:
    a) Jobs - job and recruitment listings.
    b) Property - hdb flat, private apartment, office space, etc.
    c) Cars - all types of cars and motorcycles.
    d) Classifieds - general classifieds and participating merchants.

It's free to put your stuff up for sale in the Classifieds area. Go check it out!
